How can Parliamentarians ensure that economic recovery packages support the transition away from fossil fuels and contribute to meeting the Paris Agreement while rebuilding economies post-COVID? How can we avoid a backlash on climate action in the light of COVID-19?
These were some of the questions on the agenda of today’s webinar for Parliamentarians, organized by Parliamentarians for the Global Goals, the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).
Parliamentarians and their staff from over 60 countries joined in the conversation and shared their ideas and perspectives. They heard from experts on climate policy Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of UN Climate Change (UNFCCC), Selwin Charles Hart, Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Climate Action, Phoebe Koundouri, Professor at the School of Economics at the Athens University of Economics & Business.
